Barnsley have today confirmed the signing of former Brentford defender Alfie Mawson, beating off competition from all over the Football League.
With Birmingham City, Sheffield United, Swindon, Millwall, Bradford, Wycombe and Oxford United all reputedly interested, the 23-year-old centre half has penned a three year deal at Oakwell.
He spent all of last season with Wycombe Wanderers and is reunited with Josh Scowen, who signed for the Reds in January.
He joins Marley Watkins and Marc Roberts as the new signings Lee Johnson has made at Oakwell so far this summer. He tweeted following his move:

Meanwhile, former winger Dale Jennings has joined former loan club MK Dons on a free transfer. 23-year-old Jennings was released from his Oakwell contract earlier this month.
