...Thankfully though they do not have Coventry as the first home game for the fourth time in a row, instead Crystal Palace- who relegated Sheffield Wednesday back in May will be the first visitors to Oakwell.
The Reds have a tough looking opening two months, and it would not be a surprise if Derby County is the first three point haul for the third successive season when they visit Oakwell on Saturday 18th September.
Barnsley also have back to back derby dates twice in the coming season as both games with Doncaster Rovers are followed with matches against Sheffield United. The Reds travel to the Keepmoat on Saturday 4th December 2010, with the Blades arriving at Oakwell four days later, whilst in April, Rovers come to Oakwell on Easter Monday- 25th April 2011, with The Reds travelling to Bramall Lane for their final away game of the season five days after- it will be the third season in a row that The Reds have travelled to the Blades in April.
Both games against newly promoted Leeds United take place on Tuesday nights. The West Yorkshire outfit visit Oakwell on Tuesday 14th September 2010, whilst The Reds head to Elland Road on Tuesday 22nd February 2011.
Interestingly Barnsley will end the season at home for the first time in 11 years, when Millwall come to Oakwell. It is the first time The Reds will have ended a campaign with a home game since the 1999-2000 season when they reached this divisions Play-Off Final!
Another key date to note is that this season’s Boxing Day fixture is a home match with Burnley- they travelled to Turf Moor on Boxing Day 2008.
