Barnsley did indeed get to face Scottish Premier League side Hibernian yesterday, but it took place behind closed doors on the club’s training pitch. And it was an SPL old boy who got the Reds off to a winning start in pre-season, as former Motherwell and Celtic man Jim O’Brien fired in an impressive free-kick to seal a 1-0 success.
New boss Keith Hill fielded five of his new signings in the starting line-up with Craig Davies and Jim McNulty on the bench.
The Reds starting line-up was (4-5-1)
Luke Steele
Jay McEveley Rob Edwards Stephen Foster Scott Wiseman
Matty Done Miles Addison David Perkins Jim O'Brien Nathan Doyle
Danny Haynes
