Barnsley FC have tonight made an ambitious approach to high-flying Swindon Town for their manager Mark Cooper.
The Daily Mail are reporting that the Reds have made a 'formal approach' for the 46-year-old, whose side currently occupy second place in the SkyBet League One table, and who masterminded two victories over the Reds this season (3-0 at Oakwell and 2-0 at the County Ground).
The Reds sacked Danny Wilson and his assistant Chris Hutchings on Thursday last week and slipped to a crushing 5-1 defeat at Crawley Town on Saturday under the leadership of caretaker boss Mark Burton.
On first view it would seem the Reds haven't got a hope of landing Cooper, but the Mail reports there is money to spend, so they could tempt him away from Wiltshire with a good offer.
