The Reds are in talks with Preston North End winger Chris Sedgwick over a move to Oakwell after he missed Preston's match last night with Peterborough.
The Lancashire Evening Post reports that Sedgwick is in talks with Barnsley. The ex-Rotherham winger has been with North End since 2004, making 202 league appearances, and netting 11 goals.
His time at Millmoor was just as fruitful, in seven years he appeared 244 times and scored 16 goals.
The report reads:
There was no Chris Sedgwick in the squad, the winger in talks with Barnsley about a move to Oakwell.
The 29-year-old will provide a replacement for Jamal Campbell-Ryce who signed for Bristol City last week and made his debut in City's 6-0 home defeat to Cardiff City last night.
