Barnsley have been thwarted in their attempts to sign Bournemouth defender Jason Pearce. The 23 year old was subject to an undisclosed bid from The Reds at the tail end of last week but the Cherries informed the Barnsley board that the former Portsmouth trainee who has made over 130 appearances for the Dean Court outfit in four years has verbally agreed to sign for another Championship club- believed to be beaten play-off finalists Reading.
Director Don Rowing told the Star:
“We made a bid for Jason, but we were told that he’d already made a promise to join another club.
“It’s a shame we couldn’t sign him because he’s a player Keith likes a lot.”
