Barnsley have seen their third attempt at securing their first new signing of the summer rebuffed with the news Bristol Rovers have rejected bids from them, and Middlesbrough for 22 year old winger Mustapha Carayol.
The Gambian was the subject of a failed bid from The Reds in the January transfer window and manager Keith Hill has been knocked back again, with Rovers confirming they had turned down a six figure bid from an “unnamed” Championship outfit, believed to be Barnsley. Now the Pirates who finished 13th in the 2011-2012 League Two table are set to offer the man they signed from Lincoln in 2011 a new contract.
This rebuff means that Barnsley have now had bids rejected for Gordon Greer, Oliver Norwood and Carayol this month.
