Reds Reserves Lose Thriller

They were defeated 4-3 by Hartlepool at Oakwell yesterday with the game swinging one way and then the other.

The Reds took the lead with less than 10 minutes played thanks to a header from Martin Grundy but Michael Mackay got Pools level before half time.

Jacob Butterfield put The Reds 2-1 up, but Marc Ellison equalised before Lee Mason put Pools in front for the first time in the game with ten minutes remaining. Matty Tymon looked to have made the game safe but in injury time Jack Watts ensured a tense finish.

Meanwhile Reds winger Jamal Campbell-Ryce has taken himself off penalty duties. Campbell-Ryce missed two penalties in the space of three days against Nottingham Forest and Sheffield United which may have cost The Reds three points.

Reds boss Simon Davey told www.barnsleyfc.co.uk:

"Jamal (Campbell-Ryce) has taken himself off penalty duty. He made the decision after the other night before we had chance to talk to him."
