Midfielder David Cotterill is tying up the loose ends of a move to Oakwell as Reds boss Keith Hill looks to further strengthen his engine room.
The 24 year old who has 17 caps for the Wales national side was released by Swansea City in January after two years at the club and is set to sign with The Reds until the end of the season.
Cotterill has previously spent two years in South Yorkshire with Sheffield United between 2008-2010, and made 33 appearances in 2008-2009 as the Blades lost the Championship Play-Off Final, before moving to Swansea that November.
He has also played for Bristol City, Wigan and Portsmouth, making his Pompey debut, against Barnsley in February last year.
Hill told BBC Radio Sheffield:
"We're very close, we've been in negotiations with him for quite a while.
"He comes with a knowledge of the Championship. It's a no brainer."
Cotterill’s signing will not be completed in time for tomorrow’s game at Burnley but he should be ready for Saturday’s visit of Portsmouth.
