Barnsley moved a step closer to capturing League Two top scorer Jamie Ward this afternoon after his club Chesterfield accepted a bid of £400,000 for the 22 year old.
Ward, who is the division's top scorer with 14 goals declined a new contract at Saltergate and will now travel to Oakwell to discuss personal terms and take a medical.
According to the Official Chesterfield website the deal includes extras and a sell on clause.
Ward's former club Torquay will receive around £100,000 after they inserted a 25% sell-clause when he moved to Chesterfield.
It is thought Ward may take the Number 8 shirt at Oakwell which was vacated today when Miguel Mostto returned to Peru. Ironically Ward would be arriving for the same fee Mostto did in 2007.
There are also rumours that Michael Coulson has injured his knee again. The youngster was sidelined for seven months back in April after damaging his cruciate knee ligaments and apparently he has now revealed on his Facebook page that he has damaged his knee again. More soon…
