Peter Ridsdale has told the BBC that it is taking longer than expected to get everything signed and sealed to take the Reds out of administration.
Reds should be out of administration next week
He said, "We only completed the takeover on Saturday morning.
"Since then I've been spending time talking to the Football League, writing to the PFA and dealing with the administrators.
"It's just a matter of making sure that the monies we need to pay are being paid to the right people at the right time.
"We also need to make sure that the football debts will be paid off which again will happen in the next few days. Then it's just waiting for the Football League and the FA to say it's fine."
But Ridsdale was hopeful that the club would exit administration next week.
He said, "I would have thought that we're probably talking this time next week rather than before, but I will be very disappointed if it's much later than that."
