Barnsley have made their third summer signing, successfully ending their pursuit of Plymouth Argyle captain Conor Hourihane.
The 23-year-old was subject of two failed bids by Reds boss Danny Wilson but it appears to be third time lucky for the Reds, as Hourihane has signed a three-year deal at Oakwell. The fee has remained undisclosed.
Sources on Twitter suggested the player had expressed a desire to leave the Home Park outfit after hearing of Barnsley's interest and, as such, has made the step up in divisions.
The Irishman joined Plymouth from Ipswich in 2011 and went on to make 135 appearances for the Pilgrims, scoring 13 goals and picked up the armband during the 2012-13 season.
