Reds boss Keith Hill has made his first two signings as manager by bringing in David Perkins from Colchester and Craig Davies from Chesterfield, both on free transfers.
It was widely expected the Reds would sign Perkins on Monday but today BBC Radio Sheffield understands Davies will also sign today.
The 25-year-old striker Davies fired Chesterfield to the League Two title last season with 23 goals in the league and Perkins was named Player of the Year at Colchester.
Keith Hill told BBC Radio Sheffield:
"He's coming in today to sign a pre-contract agreement.
"There's still a lot of untapped potential in Craig, he's still only 25 and feels he has a lot to prove."
Hill added: "He's keen to build on last season and perhaps prove a few of his doubters wrong.
"I think Craig has done his homework on us too. He knows we have a reputation of developing players and getting the best from them. This is a really exciting acquisition for us."
