Barnsley have handed 34-year-old former Bolton Wanderers midfielder Ricardo Gardner a trial.
The Jamaican international who has gained 112 caps for his country since making his debut back in 1997 is currently a free agent after his 14 year spell with the Reebok Stadium club came to an end last summer.
Gardner started his career in his home country with Harbour View in 1997, scoring twice in 10 appearances before sealing a move to England and the North West with Bolton in 1998 for a fee of £1m. He netted 21 times in 347 games including the final goal in a 3-0 victory over Preston in the 2001 Division One Play-Off Final to secure Wanderers return to the Premier League.
He spent a short loan spell at Preston in 2011 but left Bolton in May 2012 after becoming the second longest serving foreign player in Premier League history.
