Barnsley have taken former Reading and Hereford striker Mathieu Manset on trial, in their search for a new frontman.
The 23-year-old Frenchman has most recently played for Swiss side FC Sion after finishing last season with Chinese moneybags club Shanghai Shenhua on loan.
He made a £400,000 move to Reading in 2011 from Hereford, and managed five goals in 29 appearances, including one against the Reds at Oakwell in Reading's 1-0 win in 2010/11.
He left Sion this month, quoting "irreconcilable differences".
