Reds boss Simon Davey has hinted that there could be a new left-back at the club for Saturday's game with Norwich with some rumours saying it could be the return of Dominik Werling!
All Davey would say on the matter to www.barnsleyfc.co.uk is:
"We could have a left back in before the weekend. We have made enquiries about one player and are hopeful of doing something in the next day.
"We have had Marciano (Van Homoet) there in the last few weeks and he has done very well. I just feel we need more options and more balance to the side"
It is also believed a Dutch full-back has been on trial this week.
Meanwhile Grant McCann is clear to leave Oakwell... if the right offer came in.
A bid of £100,000 from Scunthorpe United was turned down at the start of the month with Barnsley holding out for £400,000 (quadruple what they paid Cheltenham for him a year ago) and Davey told www.barnsleyfc.co.uk:
"Grant is a player who we would not stand in his way if the right offer came in. I would be lying if I said that Grant is a regular first team player but he is an integral part of our squad.
"However, at Grant's age he needs to be playing matches rather than spending any more time on the bench or in the stands. I would be happy to keep him as he is an integral part of the group but I would not stand in his way if the right offer came in".
And finally, its always nice to end on a happy note. Queens Park Rangers have today placed former Reds striker Daniel Nardiello on the transfer list.
Nardiello was heading to sign a new contract at Oakwell in the summer before infamously turning around on the motorway and signing for John Gregory at Loftus Road. A lot has changed down in West London since then. Gregory's gone, new billionaire owners have arrived, Nardiello has started just four games without scoring and now seems to be on his way out.
What's the odds on him returning on loan, getting in the team by March and then doing is trick of scoring goals at the back end of the season to fire us into the play-offs...... Well maybe not.
