New Zealand striker Chris Wood has today had his loan contract with the Reds cancelled by mutual consent and has joined League One leaders Brighton on loan.
The 18-year-old international joined from West Brom in September and made seven appearances in a disastrous loan spell which was supposed to run until December but Mark Robins has today cut it short.
He has joined up with the Withdean Stadium outfit until January.
Reds boss Mark Robins told www.barnsleyfc.co.uk:
"We have come to an agreement with West Brom that will see Chris Wood return. Chris has found it difficult and it has not really worked out for him. I cannot guarantee him games and things are better served with him going back there and maybe trying somewhere else"
"I would like to thank him for his time here. He is a good player but he has found it difficult."
