Barnsley owner Patrick Cryne has turned to Manchester United lawyer Maurice Watkins to see if The Reds could be due compensation for the sickening injury that has left star striker Iain Hume on the sidelines for at least six months.
Watkins has dealt with many high profile cases at Old Trafford and is the club's official lawyer.
It is believed Watkins will work on Barnsley's behalf if the case goes as far as the courts.
Reds boss Simon Davey said:
"The board are discussing it with the legal people on how to take it further,"
