Reds Win Nyatanga Appeal!

Reds defender Lewin Nyatanga has seen his fourth minute red card shown at Plymouth rescinded upon appeal from Barnsley FC.

Nyatanga was red carded controversially after "fouling" Jermaine Easter. Steven McLean scored the resulting free kick which sent Plymouth on their way to a 3-0 win to compound the Reds' away hoodoo.

Reds boss Simon Davey explained his disappointment and happiness at the opposite ends of the appeal succeeding. He told barnsleyfc.co.uk:

"Obviously we are very disappointed at having to play virtually 90 minutes with only ten men for what has been proven to be no reason at all.

"We went down to Plymouth and spent two days there preparing for the game. We also had a lot of supporters there as well and we had the chance to take three points taken away from us virtually from the start for no reason. That is very disappointing.

"I thought it was very harsh at the time and the referee, who was ten yards away, waved play on but for some reason his assistant flagged. I do not understand it and we felt very aggrieved.

"We have been justified in our grievance today and we are pleased that Lewin will be able to play against Norwich next week".
