The youngest ever Football League player has today departed Oakwell after failing to fulfil his potential at the club.
Reuben Noble-Lazarus was just 15 years and 45 days old when he shattered a 79-year-old record by replacing Martin Devaney in the 84th minute of a 3-0 defeat at Ipswich on the 30th September 2008.
In the intervening six years since the Huddersfield born winger has made only another 48 appearances, 35 of which have come in the same way as his debut and he has failed to impress Barnsley managers Mark Robins, Keith Hill and latterly Danny Wilson who questioned the youngster’s attitude.
Wilson sent Noble-Lazarus on loan to Rochdale, ironically now managed by Hill, in October and it has been announced today that this move has become permanent.
