Reuben Noble-Lazarus has reunited with former manager Keith Hill at Rochdale.
The 21 year old became the youngest ever Football League player when handed his Barnsley bow by Simon Davey in September 2008 aged just 15 years and 45 days old.
However he has struggled to force his way into the Reds side in the ensuing six years and has made just a further 48 appearances for four managers since his famous debut.
The Academy graduate looked to have established himself at Oakwell in 2013 when he made 15 appearances under Hill and then his successor David Flitcroft but the winger who has also spent time on loan at Scunthorpe has featured only eight times since Danny Wilson returned in December with his only start this season coming in the League Cup defeat to Crewe in August.
Noble-Lazarus will stay at Spotland until the end of January 2015 and reunites with a manager who played him 16 times during his time in charge at Oakwell.
