Barnsley's hopes of signing Liverpool winger Adam Hammill could be shattered by local rivals Leeds United.
It is believed The Reds have had a bid for last season's Oakwell fans favourite accepted by Liverpool but Leeds could tempt Hammill into a loan deal at Elland Road.
Skysports.com reports:
Skysports.com understands Leeds are lining up a move for Liverpool starlet Adam Hammill.
Highly-rated winger Hammill has been the subject of interest from Barnsley this summer, but Leeds are hoping to beat their Yorkshire rivals to the player's signature.
Hammill has come through the ranks at Anfield and was a member of the 2006 FA Youth Cup winning side.
The 21-year-old has spent the last few seasons out on loan at Dunfermline, Southampton, Blackpool and Barnsley after finding his first-team chances at Liverpool limited.
The skilful wide-man impressed during his loan spells away from Anfield and his performances have not gone unnoticed with a number of sides keeping tabs on his situation on Merseyside.
Leeds boss Simon Grayson is keen to bolster his attacking options as he aims to build a side capable of winning promotion this season and he sees Hammill as a key addition to his squad.
