Reds manager Mark Robins has revealed that he enquired about Premier League strike duo Jason Scotland and Robbie Blake.
The strikers, at Wigan and Burnley respectively were shunned of a move to Oakwell by their managers Roberto Martinez and Brian Laws as Robins looked to bolster his strike force ahead of yesterday's deadline.
Wigan did sign two strikers in Victor Moses and Marcelo Moreno from Crystal Palace and Shakhtar Donetsk respectively but were unwilling to let former Swansea striker Scotland out on loan.
Robins did end up bringing another Burnley forward, in the shape of 20-year-old Jay Rodriguez and West Brom midfielder Filipe Teixeira in ahead of the transfer window slamming shut at 5pm yesterday.
He told the Star: "I was interested in them but they weren't available,"
"There's a lot you want to do. You have targets, but there's some we missed out on,"
