Barnsley are set to go head on with South Yorkshire rivals Doncaster Rovers for the signature of red hot striker Billy Sharp next month.
Sharp is currently on loan at the Keepmoat Stadium from Sheffield United and has hit eight goals in his last nine games including strikes in each of his last five!
Blades boss Kevin Blackwell has indicated Sharp can leave in January with the closest bidder to the £1m mark likely to get the opportunity to speak to him.
Reds boss Mark Robins told the Crystal Palace press conference:
"You always want to sign good players and if someone is available and it is within the right parameters then you look to do something. That is what it should be about and Billy Sharp falls into that category. We are always interested in quality players but we will have to wait and see.”
Sharp scored the winner at Oakwell for Sheffield United back in March 2008.
