A conference to announce Robins as manager and John Breckin, Steve Taylor and Nick Daws as his coaching team was arranged for 2.15pm today but had to be cancelled after Barnsley and Rotherham failed to agree on a compensation package in time.
A statement on the Official Barnsley FC website reads:
TODAY'S press conference at Oakwell has been postponed.
Barnsley Football Club are still in protracted negotiations with Rotherham United FC regarding a compensation package for manager Mark Robins and his backroom team and these discussions have not been concluded at present.
Barnsley Football Club hope to be in a position to unveil its new manager in the very near future.
More news soon.
But there has been movement through the exit door at Oakwell today with the news that assistant manager Ryan Kidd, coach Kelham O'Hanlon and sports scientist Dave Kelly have all left the club. They were recruited to the coaching staff by ex boss Simon Davey. The question now is, who is the caretaker manager? The only person left is Academy manager Ronnie Branson… and we all know what happens when Academy managers get handed the reigns on a temporary basis….
