Brek Shea has seen his loan deal at Barnsley ended and he has returned to Stoke City following the altercation with supporters after the 5-0 defeat at Huddersfield on the 8th March.
The 24 year old who made eight appearances for the Reds is alleged to have made an obscene gesture to supporters who were furious at the team’s capitulation in West Yorkshire.
Following his return from international duty with the USA last midweek Shea offered an apology to the supporters via the club’s official website but was still left out of the squad for the 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest.
This morning Reds boss Danny Wilson told local media that the issue was yet not resolved and that Shea would also play no part in tomorrow night’s fixture with league leaders Leicester City and hinted his relationship with supporters may now be untenable.
Within a couple of hours of this the Reds released a statement on the website which simply read:
Winger Brek Shea has returned to parent club Stoke City.
The 24-year-old made eight appearances for the Reds after arriving on loan on New Year's Day from the Premier League club.
