Interesting Stats
Just like earlier in the season Barnsley follow a match with Brighton with a game against Burnley.
Barnsley have lost just ONE of their last 18 meetings with Burnley at Oakwell, winning 11.
In 33 visits to this part of South Yorkshire in total, the Clarets have emerged victorious just nine times.
However due to 21 wins from 33 meetings at Turf Moor, Burnley have won just under half of the total clashes, netting 109 goals.
Goals have not been very forthcoming recently though. Neither side has scored more than once in any of the last four meetings, and Barnsley have managed it just once in the last nine.
All but five of the 66 duels have taken place in the second tier of English football, with one in the FA Cup, two in the League Cup and two in the Third Division.
Victory for Burnley tomorrow will give them their first double over Barnsley since 2010-2011 and only their second in 82 years.
Burnley have one foot back at English football’s top table for the first time in five years and only the second time in 38.
Sean Dyche’s side now reside in second place in the Championship table, 10 points clear of third placed Queens Park Rangers with just 18 left to play for, meaning they are just a maximum of four wins away from Premier League football.
The Clarets have lost just four times in the league this season, the division’s best record and the only reason they have not run away with the Championship is down to 14 draws. Only three teams have more.
They have been excellent at both ends of the field, scoring 65 times (only leaders Leicester and Derby have scored more), and they have the division’s best defensive record having only conceded 34. Indeed only League One leaders Wolves have conceded less in the entire Football League.
All this has given Burnley 80 points from 40 matches, 19 more than they managed in the whole of 2012-2013.
The Lancashire outfit arrive at Oakwell having been defeated just three times on their travels (the least amount in the league) and they are unbeaten on the road in 2014 (9 matches) since losing at Middlesbrough on Boxing Day.
Home and away they have lost just one of their last 18 league matches- winning 10- and that was against the only side above them in the table, Leicester, who became the first and so far only side to win at Turf Moor this season.
Burnley are unbeaten in all six of their Tuesday night league fixtures so far this season, winning four. Barnsley have won just two of their seven.
