Barnsley held 13-time Belgian champions Club Brugge to a 1-1 draw in their opening pre-season friendly ahead of the 2013/14 season.
Summer signings Lewin Nyatanga and Chris O'Grady both started the game but there was no Dale Jennings in the squad, with the winger presumably lacking match fitness after his injury lay off at Bayern Munich. The visitors included former Chelsea striker Eidur Gudjohnsen in their starting eleven.
The Reds took the lead on 10 minutes, Chris Dagnall firing in from an inprobable angle. But the Belgian side replied immediately, with Victor Vasquez levelling.
Maxine Lestienne hit the post for Club Brugge, before Jordan Clark rattled the bar in the second half for the Reds.
Barnsley team: Alnwick (Steele 46), Wiseman (Kennedy 63), Cranie (McNulty 63), Nyatanga (Scott 63), Golbourne (Patterson 63), Dawson (Noble-Lazarus 63), Etuhu (Digby 63), Mellis (O’Brien 63), Perkins (Clark 63), O'Grady (Cywka 63), Dagnall (Scotland 63).
Last night, in a behind closed doors friendly, the Reds drew 2-2 with Romanian outfit Dinamo Bucharest. Tomasz Cywka and Jordan Clark netted first half goals for the Reds before Dinamo levelled up in the second half.
Barnsley entertain French side Bordeaux on Thursday night at Oakwell (7.30pm kick-off).
