Stephen Dawson has rejected a new contract at Barnsley and is now set to leave Oakwell this summer.
The 28 year old Irishman has made 86 appearances for The Reds since joining in the summer of 2012 and was a mainstay of the side when Danny Wilson took the reigns.
The former Leyton Orient man was embroiled in a spat with supporters after the 5-0 defeat at Huddersfield in March but the club was keen to keep the tough tackling midfielder for the hurly bury demands of League One.
However Chief Executive Ben Mansford has revealed that Dawson’s agent has informed the club the terms of the new deal are not acceptable to them and he will now leave the club when his current deal expires at the start of July.
