The Championship has seen its first managerial casualty just five days into the new season after Steve Coppell sensationally quit as Bristol City boss, just four months after taking the reigns and retired from management altogether!
The former Reading manager, who has more than 1000 games in football management under his belt, only oversaw two competitive games as Robins boss- a 3-0 home defeat to Millwall on the season’s opening day on Saturday and a 3-2 Carling Cup loss to Southend on Tuesday.
Coppell told the club’s official website:
"I found I could not become passionate about the role and give the commitment the position demands,"
City have moved quickly to replace Coppell by giving his assistant Keith Millen his first managerial role on a three year contract.
