Barnsley captain Mitch Ward is doubtful the clash with Colchester United although Glyn Hodges will give the midfielder until tomorrow morning to prove his fitness.
Ward was stretchered off after just 14 minutes Tranmere game on Tuesday night and was replaced by Lee Crooks, who is again likely to deputise. Ward needed four stitches in his shin after a late tackle.
Paul Gibbs (groin injury), Rory Fallon (foot) and Carl Barrowclough (hamstring) are all still unavailable.
Colchester will be without on-loan striker Gareth Williams who has returned to Crystal Palace.
