Barnsley are now close to making their second signing of the summer with the capture of right back Jordan Williams from Premier League side Huddersfield Town.
The 18 year old came through the ranks with the West Yorkshire outfit, joining when he was just nine years old and made his one and only appearance for the Terriers in a 2-1 EFL Cup victory over Rotherham in August 2017, playing the full 90 minutes. Following this Williams who has represented England at Under 17 and Under 18 levels was sent out on loan to then League One side Bury, making 14 appearances between August and December 2017.
Williams was at Oakwell today and the move could be announced within the next 24 hours, it remains to be seen whether he will be put straight into the Barnsley first team squad or whether he will be sent out on loan as both Dimitri Cavare and Jason McCarthy play in his position.
Meanwhile the Reds are set to receive a cash injection thanks to putting a sell on clause into striker Kayden Jackson’s move to Accrington Stanley in July 2017. Jackson has proved to be a hit with Stanley, netting 16 goals in 45 league appearances, helping them win promotion from League Two last season and is now to set for a move to Championship side Ipswich for a fee likely to exceed £1.5m with Barnsley set for around 30% of this.
