League Two Bury have taken their contingent of ex Barnsley players to four after signing striker Danny Rose on loan today, with a view to a permanent move.
The 20 year old made his Oakwell debut in April 2011 in a 2-2 draw with Doncaster and scored his first goal in a FA Cup tie against Burnley in January 2013, which was followed by his first league goal in a 1-1 draw at Ipswich two weeks later.
Those matches were under the management of David Flitcroft who has now signed him for Bury after he scored three times in six substitute appearances during a loan spell at Gigg Lane last season.
Rose started Barnsley’s opening day defeat to Crawley but the signing of Leroy Lita has pushed the former Oakwell academy graduate down the pecking order and he did not even make the bench for the League Cup defeat to Crewe on Tuesday.
Rose initially moves to Bury, who were installed at title favourites this summer but lost 1-0 at home to Cheltenham in their first game of the season, on loan but will sign a permanent deal if things work out for both parties.
He joins a growing number at Gigg Lane with Barnsley connections. Former players Jim McNulty, Kelvin Etuhu and Daniel Nardiello are there along with former manager Flitcroft, goalkeeping coach Ian Wilcox, Fitness Coach Jon Lucas and Under 18s manager Ryan Kidd who was Simon Davey’s assistant at Oakwell during his spell as manager.
