Barnsley have taken former Sunderland and Stoke winger Liam Lawrence on trial as they attempt to add pace to their pedestrian side.
The 32 year old started his career at Mansfield where he netted 35 times in 136 games.
His form for the Stags earnt him a £175,000 move from League Two to the Championship in 2004 as he joined Sunderland.
Lawrence has since appeared for Stoke, Portsmouth and Cardiff before joining Greek side PAOK in August 2012.
