Well Transfer Deadline Day passed without Reds boss Andy Ritchie managing to bring anybody in but midfielder Richard Kell did complete his loan move to Neil Redfearn's Scarborough.
Boro boss Neil Redfearn told the Scarborough Evening News:
"Kell is coming in on Thursday to train and he will be involved on Saturday. He is a great box-to-box player and a good footballer who has now got over the broken leg which kept him out of the game for 20 months.
"When Scunthorpe won promotion a few seasons ago he was their player of the year. I have spoken to their boss Brian Laws and Barnsley's manager Andy Ritchie about him and they were full of praise."
In a piece of transfer news that could be beneficial to Barnsley is the fact promotion rivals Brentford sold star striker Dudley "DJ" Campbell to Premiership side Birmingham for a fee that could rise to 1m.
Also promotion rivals Swansea lost 2-1 at home to struggling Gillingham last night.
The Reds are now only a point behind 4th place Swansea with a game in hand
