Trialists Sheffield Utd's Kylie Nix, Scarborough's Michael Coulson and Celtic's Anthony McParland are all set to stay at Oakwell for another week after impressing in yesterdays impressive 4-1 thumping of Bradford Reserves.
Coulson netted in the game and Andy Ritchie told www.barnsleyfc.co.uk:
"All three of them did very, very well and I was pleased with what I saw.
"Michael impressed and took his goal well; Kyle and Anthony looked lively out wide as well so we will try to keep them here with us for another week. We want to have a closer look at them again and we will try to get them into another game".
Meanwhile Saturday's massive match with nemesis Doncaster Rovers at Belle Vue is set to be a sell out for the away end with just about 150 tickets remaining.
The Reds were allocated 2,400 to begin with but sales have been extremely brisk with The Reds currently 4th in League One after 3 straight 2-0 wins. Doncaster meanwhile are on a dire run of just 1 win in their last 9 games in all competitions. Rovers now sit 15th in League One just 3 points clear of the relegation zone. After Rovers have 4 victories out of 4 against Barnsley in recent seasons, maybe just maybe luck is about to change....
If The Reds are to finally defeat The Rovers though they will have to do it without Stephen McPhail. McPhail injured his medial ligaments against Nottingham Forest 2 weeks ago and has still not recovered. Neil Austin is also a doubt as he is currently ill, but Chris Shuker and Martin Devaney should be fit.
