Micky Adams has quit as Port Vale manager just 48 hours before a League One clash with Barnsley at Vale Park.
The 52 year old who also managed the Stoke-on-Trent outfit between 2009 and 2010 returned in 2011 after a spell at Sheffield United where he was relegated from the Championship following a final day draw with The Reds but today quit after a run of six straight defeats.
Adams led Vale to promotion from League Two in 2013 and finished a very credible ninth last season.
However he leaves today with the club in 23rd position with just one win to their name.
Barnsley travel to Vale Park this weekend where Port Vale are winless this season and have lost three of their four matches.
