Reds Skipper Tony Vaughan will definitely miss the rest of the season as he will drop into the Yorkshire Clinic in Bingley on Monday for an operation on his troublesome groin. It will keep Tony sidelined for four to six weeks.
Reds physio Rick Holden told the Official Site:
" Tony will have the op at the Yorkshire Clinic in Bingley on Monday afternoon. The procedure itself will only take around 25 minutes but he faces between four and six weeks out.
The surgery will cure his long-term problem which has developed chronically to stop him playing. He will be fit and ready to return in the summer."
The 29 year old spoke of his despair to the Sheffield Star:
" My season is over. I'll take a couple of weeks off after and then start thinking about next season and beginning my pre-season.
Normally I'd try to play through it but this has been so bad that I've not being able to jog for a fortnight, it's starting to be hard to do anything. We've tried resting it and its not worked.
I've had worse in the past. At Ipswich I was out for six months with snapped ankle ligaments, so I know the score. The surgeon has said I'll be back in eight weeks".
