Tony Vaughan could have his loan stay at Stockport County cut short after sustaining a medial ligament injury against Shrewsbury at the weekend, which could keep him out for around six weeks.
Reds physio Rick Holden told the Official Site: “ I have spoken to Tony since the weekend and we think he could be out for up to six weeks but we will have to wait and see until he comes in before making a real assessment. Hopefully Stockport won’t have a problem with him having treatment here and we can have a good luck at him Thursday.”
Meanwhile midfielder Nicky Wroe could be back in action within a fortnight after undergoing surgery on his injured knee Monday.
Physio Rick Holden explained: “ Nicky’s surgery went really well and he’s had a small piece of cartilage removed from the outside of his left knee. It was stopping the joint moving and extending freely and the problem should be sorted now.
The operation went fine and completely to plan so hopefully Nicky will be back with the squad soon. He is walking already and should be able to play in less than a fortnight. It all depends on how his knee reacts to the trauma of the surgery itself, not the removal of the cartilage. Hopefully it should only be between six to 14 days
