Barnsley have signed Crystal Palace full-back Jack Hunt on a three month loan deal to cover for the injured Ryan McLaughlin.
23-year-old Hunt signed for the Eagles this summer from Huddersfield, but a broken ankle suffered in September has kept him out of action.
Danny Wilson has quickly sought a replacement for McLaughlin, with the on loan Liverpool man ruled out for a month with a hamstring injury.
Hunt, who made 104 appearances for the Terriers, will go straight into Wilson's squad for Saturday's big Yorkshire derby with fellow strugglers Sheffield Wednesday.
Wilson spoke to www.barnsleyfc.co.uk about the newest member of his squad: "Ryan (McLaughlin) had a scan earlier this week and it revealed a tear, which means he'll be out for a minimum of four weeks, which is very unfortunate. We've had to look elsewhere because we have a lot of big games coming up.
"For what’s available at this moment in time, Jack’s head and shoulders above everyone else,"
"He’s been injured for a while and is short of match practice but we know enough about him to know what a terrific player he is."
