Barnsley 0-0 Scunthorpe

Last updated : 27 March 2016 By Rob Miles (BarnsleyBoy)

Barnsley drew for only the fifth time this season- the joint lowest amount in the division along with leaders Burton.

Three of those stalemates have been goal-less.

The Reds have now kept nine clean sheets 14 league outings, prior to this they had failed to keep one for 18 matches in all competitions.

They have kept 12 shut-outs in total this season seven at home and five away- they managed 13 in total last season.

Barnsley have gone back to back home games without scoring for only the second time this season and these are the only two occasions they have failed to score at home in 2016 but they have kept three clean sheets in their past four home games.

There were only four shots on target in the whole game, the lowest in a Barnsley match since the 2-0 home defeat to Wigan in December (17 league games ago) when there was only three- all for Wigan. Yesterday Barnsley had three to Scunthorpe’s one.

There were 10,122 in attendance yesterday, only the fourth time it has broken the 10,000 barrier in a Barnsley league match this season. Three of those have come at Oakwell (the one away was Coventry) but the first time at home against a non-Yorkshire opponent.

Despite knocking Scunthorpe out of both the League Cup and Johnstones Paint Trophy this season, Barnsley failed to score a league goal against the Iron- the first season this has happened since 1958-59.

Barnsley failed to beat Scunthorpe at Oakwell for only the eighth time in 20 clashes there.
