Its three defeats in a row now for Barnsley, the second time that has happened this season, and four from the last six.
The Reds have also gone three leagues without scoring for the second time this campaign.
They have managed just two strikes from the last seven matches and no Barnsley striker has found the net in eight games.
Speaking of strikers, Marcus Pedersen made his first appearance since the FA Cup defeat to Coventry at the start of January and his first league start under Danny Wilson.
It was only the sixth time this season that Pedersen and Chris O’Grady have partnered each other in a Championship attack. Those six games have yielded four goals between the pair.
Lewin Nyatanga made back-to-back starts for the first time this season but his woeful run continues. He has failed to be on the winning side in any of his last 14 games for Barnsley and Bristol City.
Barnsley were beaten in the final minute for the second time this season, they also lost 1-0 to Blackpool this way back in August.
Bournemouth are now unbeaten in their last four matches against Barnsley and they secured their first league double over the Reds since 1989-1990.
The Cherries won 1-0 thanks to an injury time goal, four days after losing in the exact same way at Charlton. Four of their last five matches have finished 1-0, with the other game 0-0.
Today’s attendance of 9,392 was Oakwell’s lowest for a Saturday league game this season and indeed the lowest for exactly 12 months when just 9,076 were present for the 1-0 win over Watford on the 16th March last year.
Barnsley’s current points tally of 29 is now the lowest in the entire Football League.
This time last year they had 12 more points than they do now.
