This was Barnsley’s 21st league victory of the season (their most since gaining 24 in 1999-2000) Only the top two- Wigan and Burton- have won more.
11 of those 21 victories have been accompanied by clean sheets.
In total The Reds have kept 15 shut outs this campaign (including 12 in the last 19) their most in a season for 10 years (19)
Barnsley went 50 games without an opposition red card but now have had two in the space of four matches.
It is the first time Barnsley have seen a first half red card since Yeovil’s Ben Nugent was sent off in the 26th minute of Barnsley’s 2-0 win in January 2015 (that game was also goal-less at half time before The Reds went on to win)
Barnsley have now gone five games without scoring in the first 45 minutes of a game (Sam Winnall’s first goal v Oldham was in the 49th) their longest such run in 2016.
Three of the Reds last four league games have been 0-0 at half time.
Ashley Fletcher replaced Ivan Toney, one has replaced the other in each of Barnsley’s past four league matches.
At the weekend Barnsley’s game at Burton was the only goal-less match in League One. Last night it was also the final match to see a goal.
The Reds had a staggering 11 shots on target and forced 11 corners. It is the most shots on target they have had in a game this season (their most since also having 11 in the final game of last season- 5-0 win v Rochdale)
Their total of 11 corners is the most since winning 14 in the 1-0 win against Doncaster in February.
George Williams’ dramatic effort was Barnsley’s fifth 90+ minute goal of the season
