A late equaliser for the third time in four matches at Oakwell saw the gap to safety remain at five points with now only 21 left to play for.
Barnsley drew 1-1 at Oakwell for the third time in four matches, they have opened the scoring in each one but have conceded after 90+5, 86 and 82 minutes to drop a total of six points – points which would have seen the Reds sitting two points clear of the relegation zone.
Barnsley’s last six matches have now finished either 1-1 or 2-0 as have six of the last seven with the one exception being the 3-2 win over Middlesbrough.
Barnsley have failed to win any of the last 10 meetings with Reading (D5 L5) with four of those draws being 1-1.

"It's going to be a battle. We started really well, then all of a sudden they had one shot on target and you find yourselves 1-0 down.
"We knew they were going to go long into Morris. We were ready for it, but it is hard to defend.
"For people like Barnsley, they want it scrappy, it's all about set-pieces. You have got to earn the right to play and I thought second half, we did that.
"We showed our character. We showed the desire to get back into the game."
