Barnsley have won each of their last four on the road but are now winless in three at Oakwell, losing two.
This result now leaves the Reds six points adrift of the play-off places but a win against Oldham on Tuesday and a defeat for either Gillingham or Walsall- who play each other- will close that to three.
It’s Barnsley’s eighth home defeat of the season- the most amongst the top 13 sides in the division.
Barnsley have conceded more than one goal in successive games for the first time since the end of December when they conceded two to Wigan and then Blackpool.
Former Barnsley winger Jamal Campbell-Ryce was shown a red card at Oakwell, the FIRST opposition player to be sent off against Barnsley this season.
It is the first time they have lost to a team with ten men since Middlesbrough won 2-0 at Oakwell in the FA Cup in January 2015. It is the first time it has happened in the league since a bad tempered 1-0 defeat at Sheffield Wednesday in February 2014 when Barnsley also had two players dismissed.
There were 10,645 in attendance, the third highest Oakwell league gate of the season
Adam Hammill scored one minute later than he did at Wembley, unfortunately it did not have the same impact on the result.
