Barnsley 1-2 Leeds United

An impressive pre-season crowd of 5,162 so the Reds narrowly go down 2-1 against Championship side Leeds United.

Leeds who were backed by a hugely impressive and vocal away following, were more than matched by Barnsley throughout the game, but returned to West Yorkshire with the win.

David Healy fired the whites in front in the first half when what looked an excellent tackle from Neil Austin flew straight into Healys path and he sped away before fireing home under Colgan.

Robbie Blake increased Leeds lead after an hour when Healy's cross was met by the former Birmingham man and his header flew out of the reach of Colgan.

The goal of the match though came from substitute Daniel Nardiello. One flick of his boot sent 2 Leeds defenders on their backsides before he fired across Neil Sullivan and in off the far post.

That was the end of the scoring but both teams played an entertaining game and the signs do look promising for the Reds up and coming League One kick-off.
