Barnsley 2-1 Millwall

Last updated : 03 January 2016 By Rob Miles (BarnsleyBoy)

Barnsley won back-to-back games for only the second time this season and the first time since August when the second victory was also against Millwall.

Barnsley have won each of their last two home league games after failing to win any of the previous six.

Barnsley won their first match of a calendar year for the first time in SIXTEEN years! The last time they won the opener was back in 2000 when a Darren Barnard brace secured a 2-0 at West Brom.

It is also the first time since that 1999-2000 season they have won both their final game of one year and the first of the next.

Sam Winnall scores in successive games for the second time this season

He has scored in nine matches this season and it has been Barnsley’s first goal in seven of them.

Adam Hammill scored his fourth goal since returning to Oakwell, The Reds have won three and drawn one of those games.

Barnsley led at half time in two successive games for the third time this season

This is Barnsley’s 24th league game of the season and the 10th time they have not conceded a first half goal.

For the second successive home game Barnsley had seven shots on target, only against Gillingham (8) have they managed more.

The Reds scored the first goal at Oakwell for the second time in eight matches.

Barnsley have now gone 18 games in all competitions without a clean sheet, their worst run since they went a whopping 25 without a shut out between 31st August 2002 and the 18th January 2003.

Barnsley have done the double over Millwall in four of the last eight seasons they have met.
