Barnsley 2-2 Bristol City.

Last updated : 26 October 2014 By Rob Miles (BarnsleyBoy)

Barnsley secured their first home draw of the season today. It has come in their seventh home league match, the longest we have waited for an Oakwell stalemate for 15 years. Back in 1999-2000 it did not arrive until the 11th home game.

Barnsley have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their first seven home league matches. It took until the eighth to keep one last season.

The Reds have now won just two of their first seven home games, one less than at this stage last season…..

This clash again lived up to the pre match promise of goals. Another four today means there has now been 43 in the last 10 meetings!

Conor Hourihane has now bagged eight goals in 17 appearances for Barnsley.  He scored nine in 53 in 2013-2014 for Plymouth.

Today was the fifth time The Reds have been behind at the break in League One this season. They have lost just two of those matches.

Bristol City are now unbeaten in 15 matches this season, continuing to set a new club record. They have drawn each of their last two matches 2-2 and by failing to win today they failed to make it three successive wins on the road.

Luke Ayling became the 15th different player to score for Bristol City this season… in only their 17th match in all competitions.

Barnsley have now conceded 24 goals in 14 league matches, only four sides have conceded more, and three of those occupy the bottom three places in the division.

They have though scored 22, the highest amount outside the top ten.

Bristol City’s goals today were the 15th and 16th conceded at Oakwell, along with Crewe this the most home goals conceded in League One.

Oakwell is definitely the place to be if you want to see goals. There have been 30 in just seven League One matches. No other ground has seen this many in the division.

Reds goalkeeper Ross Turnbull has faced five shots on target in the last two games... and conceded from each one.
