Barnsley 2-2 Ipswich Town.

The Reds blew a two-goal lead for the second time this season and it is the second time in three seasons they have done it against Ipswich.

Barnsley led at half time for only the eighth time in 31 matches this season in all competitions and have now failed to keep that lead in four of them.

If Barnsley could have hung on they would have moved to within two points of safety as the three teams around them, Yeovil, Charlton and Millwall all lost.

But it was not to be and The Reds have now won just one of their last 11 games in all competitions.

Chris O’Grady bagged his 11th goal of the season; he has now scored in each of Barnsley’s last three home matches.

Barnsley have managed just four league victories all season, the least in the division, whilst this draw was Ipswich’s 11th stalemate, only Nottingham Forest, Middlesbrough and Sheffield Wednesday all with 12 have managed more.

This was the fourth successive draw between Barnsley and Ipswich but the first to not finish 1-1.

Barnsley score more than once in a game for just the ninth time this season, but they have managed to win just four of those. They have scored twice in each of their last three home games but have won just one.

Tomasz Cywka grabbed his fourth goal of the season with another wonder freekick but today was the first time the Pole has scored this season and Barnsley have managed to avoid defeat. It was only the third of his eight goals for the club to come at Oakwell.

For the first time in five games Barnsley’s players managed to avoid entering the referee’s notebook.
