Barnsley conceded five goals in League One for the first time since April 2005 when they lost 5-0 at Port Vale.
It is the first time EVER they have conceded five goals at home in the third tier.
In more recent times conceding five is becoming a bit of a habit. The Reds have now shipped five goals at least once in each of the past four seasons.
It is the second time in three seasons that Barnsley have been 5-0 down in a game before pulling it back to 5-3. They also did it in February 2013 at Bristol City.
They have lost 5-3 three times in the last four years.
Barnsley were two goals behind at half time for the first time since the final day of last season.
It is the first time they have had such a half time deficit in League One for 29 games.
Today is the first time they have been 2-0 down at Oakwell in League One at the break since the 31st January 2005.
When The Reds were last promoted from this division, in 2006, they lost only one home league match in the regular season. Today was their second home league reverse of 2014-2015.
Barnsley have now conceded 11 goals this season, the most of a team outside the relegation zone. They have though scored 12, the joint second most in League One. Only MK Dons have scored more (14) obviously helped by the five they plundered today.
Another bright spot for The Reds today was the continuing exploits of Conor Hourihane and Devante Cole. August Player of the Month Hourihane scored another two beauties to take him to five goals in his last four league appearances. Cole now has three goals in his last four games in all competitions, two of those strikes coming as a sub.
It was another impressive result for the Dons who recorded their first league win at Oakwell since they moved to Milton Keynes.
Karl Robinson’s side have now won six of their first eight matches in all competitions. Today was the first time they had conceded a goal for five matches however, when they also let in three (at Peterborough).
